What is Belly dance / where did it come from?

A:  Also called "danse orientale" or  Raks Sharqi  it is most likely the oldest form of dance. Although it is debated where it originated from, different variations rooted back from the Middle East, Mediterranean and Africa. Belly dance is an array of movements isolating different parts of the body. This sensuous dance is similar to the sleek and sliver movements of a snake.

A:  Belly dance is an art form of self expression. It helps develop character and build self esteem among women while getting in touch with their inner goddess. Whether just learning for fun or to perform professionally, many friends are made and laughs are shared together. Bring you friend to class!

A:  Belly dance is great exercise and helps relieve stress! It tones the muscles and it is form of dance where every part of body is working with it not against it. All muscles are used and helps maintain bone density. Unlike other dances, it is safe on the knees, back and great for preparing for childbirth.

A: Most Greek or Middle Eastern Restaurants have belly dancers on weekends. You can also find them at festivals such as Renaissance festivals. Some of the area belly dance studios put on free show called "Haflas"
